How do I block a user from reading my diary? First, you should change the setting "who can read your diary?" to "Logged-in Users Only." This will prevent the user you wish to block from viewing your diary when they are not logged into Digital Expressions. This setting can be found by clicking "change user info" after logging in. Next, add the user you wish to block to your ignore list, which can be accessed by clicking "my friends." Any user who is on your ignore list will be unable to view your diary. Do you accept donations? Please help to keep DE free! Take a look at our ledger and balance sheet for more information on donating to Digital Expressions. Nobody is leaving me comments! Why? Generally, users who leave the most comments on other diaries receive the most on their own. If other users don't know your diary exists, they can't leave you comments! Find a few diaries that interest you, and leave insightful and thoughtful comments on a regular basis. As your diary builds up a base of readers, you will begin to receive more and more comments. How do I link to my diary? Please see our page on linking to your diary. What do I do if someone is harassing me? If someone is leaving you unwanted comments, reply to the comment and ask them to stop leaving you comments. You can reply to the comment even if it is anonymous. If the comments continue, send us an e-mail with links to the unwanted comments and we will deal with the user accordingly. What if I forget my password? Please try using our automated password mailer, and if that doesn't work, send an e-mail to support@digitalexpressions.nu. Please include your username in your message. Are any entries censored? To view our policies and restrictions on diary entries and comments, please view the rules. What's the difference between a public and private diary? A public diary may be viewed by anyone. Public diaries will appear in search results, and in the diary index. Private diaries may only be viewed by the owner, and require a username and password to be viewed. Who created and maintains Digital Expressions? Please see our about page. Why is the site occasionally slow to load? At peak times the site may be slow to respond due to a high load on our database. How can I change my username? Currently usernames cannot be changed. This will hopefully be changed in the near future! How many people are registered with DE? Take a look at our de stats diary. What powers Digital Expressions? Our servers run FreeBSD on high-end hardware. All of the site software was hand-coded in Perl and PHP. All of the diary and user data is stored in a MySQL database.
